Find your way! A cooperation with Rail-Flow and Route Scanner
An interface to the two digital logistics platforms Rail-Flow and Routescanner has been created on the www.intermodal-rostock.de website via the subpage www.intermodal-rostock.de/intermodalverkehre/unsere-partner. Shippers and freight forwarders can now call up information on intermodal transport (routes, providers, price searches, rail transport inquiries) and are forwarded directly to the respective services.
This interface to the two ICT tools is the result of a pilot action of the Interreg Central Europe project ACCESSMILE with the aim of improving market transparency for shippers and freight forwarders - particularly in the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern region - and making it easier for them to access intermodal transport solutions. The aim is to bundle freight volumes that are currently transported over long distances by truck via the Rostock terminal and to shift the majority of the transport route to rail. Desk research and interviews were used to develop and evaluate scenarios as to how a booking platform should be designed. As a result, instead of creating a new booking platform, an effective “digital navigator” solution was chosen that supports and promotes two established and widely accepted platforms.
Routescanner enables the comparison of routes based on CO₂ emissions, transit times and transshipment frequencies, taking into account all modes of transport as well as the pre-carriage, main leg and on-carriage. Through partnerships with ports such as Antwerp-Bruges, Rotterdam and Duisburg, Routescanner promotes transparency and efficiency in the logistics industry.
Rail-Flow is a digital platform for rail freight and intermodal transport. It supports the procurement, distribution, contract and transport management as well as the management of wagon and locomotive capacities. Shippers, freight forwarders and rail operators can use the tool's “Purchase & Tender Platform” to efficiently manage tenders, obtain offers and carry out transparent price comparisons. The platform simplifies the purchase and sale of rail transport capacity.
