Since launch in autumn, Hansa Destinations has seen a continuously increasing demand from freight forwarders and logisticians who want to transport goods by sea between Sweden and Germany. Another RoRo ship is now being put into service, enabling more departures in both directions, more flexibility for transport companies and doubling the loading capacity. It will start at the end of April.
The new ship M/S Eliana Marino, which will be chartered in from the end of April, will operate the Nynäshamn - Rostock line together with M/S Drotten. The new ship provides 2,500 lane meters and a number of cabins fo drivers. This means that Hansa Destinations is doubling from three to six weekly departures between the two ports of Nynäshamn and Rostock in both directions.
"We know that daily departures increase flexibility and this has been requested by many carriers. In autumn we noticed a gradual increase in demand and it's fun to now be able to further increase capacity in both directions,” says Håkan Johansson, CEO of Rederi AB Gotland.
The line offers freight operators a more cost-effective transportation alternative. Thanks to increased capacity and more departures, customers now have greater flexibility and the opportunity to plan their transports better. We are also working intensively with customers on further rail solutions for hinterland connections in order to complete the offer and further strengthen the Stockholm and Rostock region as Baltic Sea hubs.
“With this investment, we enable the shifting of larger volumes of goods from land to sea while simplifying processes for our customers,” says Håkan Johansson, CEO of Rederi AB Gotland.
In high summer weeks 26-32, M/S Drotten, which is currently being used by Hansa Destinations, will support Gotland traffic with increased capacity, meaning there will be five instead of six sailings between Rostock and Nynäshamn during these weeks.
The updated schedule will be published soon on https://hansadestinations.com/.
